Chiropractic Treatment for Neck Pain in Leesburg, VA
With so much time spent using computers, tablets, and smartphones, neck pain is increasingly common in our patients—but that doesn’t mean it’s normal. Some of the symptoms associated with neck pain include:
- Muscle tightness and spasms
- Migraines and headaches
- Limited range of motion
- Pain that is aggravated by holding the head in the same position for extended periods of time (as with sitting at a desk using a computer)
It’s important for us to determine the underlying cause of your pain. There are many reasons why your neck might hurt, including:
- Car accidents
- Strains and sprains
- Too much screen time
- Improper sleep position
- Bone misalignments
- Fixations
- Cervical disc problems
During your initial appointment at our clinic, we will assess the condition of your neck to determine whether it has lost part of its curve or if degeneration in the discs has occurred.
The curve in your neck is important because in a structurally healthy body, this curve places your head in a precise location centered above your shoulders in order to evenly distribute the weight of your head. This puts equal amounts of pressure on each of the discs in your spine.
If the head is moved forward slightly—something common in patients who spend a lot of time on computers and other screens—the amount of pressure on the discs in the neck and upper back is increased. In these patients, we see chronic neck pain, back pain, and headaches.
We can help alleviate neck pain and its associated symptoms by using chiropractic adjustments and an at-home self-care protocol that includes gentle exercises and stretches to improve your posture for lasting relief.
